Aghanjar mahadev temple is situated at a distance of 5 km from Dharamshala and in the Khaniyara village near manji river at the foothills of dhauladhar. This Shiva temple is very unique,very old and is illustrious for its scenic beauties. It is believed that this temple was created by pandavas. It is believed that once upon a time that when the Pandavas from the Mahabharata, were on their way to the Kailash Mountains, Lord Shiva appeared before of them at this spot and blessed them with a boon to succeed over the kaurvas. At this place sage Ganga Bharati has laidoff “Akhand Dhuni” Sacred Fire.
Anjani Mahadev is a holy temple of Devi Anjana Mother of Lord Hanuman in Manali where the main attraction is ice Lingam formed by flowing water from mountain. It is said that Devi Anjana meditated at this place. During winters when temperature decreases and the water flowing from the mountains fall at a particular point and at same time due to minus temperature, water freezes and formed a Lingam shape. Some time Lingam attains height up to 20 to 30 feet. And because of same formation procedure of Lingam it is also called Amarnath of Kullu or Chota Amarnath. Vashisth Mandir is named after Rishi Vashistha. Legend has it that the saddened Rishi Vashisht after learning that his children were killed by Vishwamitra tried to commit suicide. But the river refused to kill him.
Around 30 km from Kangra District, Baglamukhi Temple is a Siddha Peeth close to both Jwala Ji and Chintpurni Devi Temple. The deity, Baglamukhi is one of the 10 Mahavidyas and believed to be the destroyer of all evils. Yellow colour is the most favourite colour of the Goddess. That is why the temple is painted in yellow colour. The devotees do wear yellow attire and yellow desserts besan ki laddoo are offered to the deity. People worship the deity to win the legal confrontations, to defeat their enemy, to prosper in business and to win the heart of beloved.
Baijnath Temple is a revered shrine of Himachal Pradesh. Located at a distance of 16 kms from Palampur in the Beas valley, Baijnath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. In the porch of the temple, the two long inscriptions state that before the present temple, there was a shrine of Lord Shiva at the same spot. ❖ Just 5 kms. away from Baijnath, another temple attracts the devotees because of its timeless appeal–Maha Kaal—The abode of the mighty Shiva, the lord of the Destruction
Built in the 16th century and dedicated to Krishna, this temple has a small collection of carved panels from other area temples in its courtyard. A curious feature of the temple is the depiction of amorous scenes of Khajuraho type on the exterior of the temple. In the niches outside the temple are depicted various deities, including Surya, Harihara, Krishna with flute, Hanuman, Mashishasuramardini, Anantasayi Vishnu, Vishnu with three faces those of hanuman, a lion and a boar, Uma Maheshvra, Narsimha and Varaha.Brij Raj Swami temple inside the Nurpurfort is a 16thcentury historical temple of Lord Krishna and home to a muchrevered deity of the local population and attracts tourists.
The temple of Bhadra Kali is located at the height of 3800 ft on a place called Bhalei. The temple deity is a black stone idol of Goddess which stands 2 ft tall and is enshrined in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. Chamunda Devi Temple is nestled in a spectacular position on the spur of Shah Madar range of hills and opposite to the Chamba town. It is a major holy place for pilgrims that sits on the bank of river Baner and just 15 km away from Dharmshala. The temple of Chhatrari is regarded as one of the holiest ones and is devoted to Goddess Shakti.
A medieval shrine, Bhagsunath is Shiva Temple situated about 3kms from Mcleodganj. The temple has been highly revered by the Hindus and the Gorkha Community. The sacred shrine is famed for its two pools that are believed to have healing properties. The legend has that King Bhagsu built this temple after seeking forgiveness from Snake God. It is believed that Nag Devta was raged in anger as King Bhagsu stole water from the sacred Nag Dal Lake here. Later, the king repented and built the temple in reverence to Nag Devta.
The Bhootnath Temple is an ancient temple and one of the famous temple in Himachal Pradesh. The controlling deity is the Great Lord Shiva and was built when State Capital was shifted from Bhiuli to present place. Bhootnath Temple, with an idol of a manifestation of god Shiva is synonymous with Mandi. The idol of Nandi, the sacred bull stands facing the ornamental double arch of the sanctuary. The overhang, cellar and mandap are incised with delicate figures of elephants. The Nandi, Shivas mount, faces the deity from the ornamented doublearched entrance.
Brajeshwari Devi temple is situated in Nagarkot,Kangra district of Himachal pradesh. It is 11 km away from nearest railway station.This temple is dedicated to goddess Brajeshwari. Acccording to legend after Goddess Sati sacrificed herself in the honor of Lord Shiva in her father Yagya. Lord Shiva took the Sati body on his shoulder and stated Tandav. Lord Vishnu is divided goddess Sati body into 51 parts with his chakra in order to stop the Lord Shiva destroying the word. The left breast of Sati fell at this place.
In Hinduism, Chamunda or Camunda is an aspect of Devi, the supreme mother goddess. The name is a combination of Chanda and Munda, two monsters which Devi killed.The famous temple of Ma Chamunda is in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, India. The temple depicts scenes from the Devi Mahatmya, Ramayan and Mahabharata. The Devis image is flanked by the images of Hanuman and Bhairo on either side.
Chintpurni ji is a major pilgrimage Centre and one of the Shakti Peethas in India. The Chintpurni shakti peeth Chhinnamastik shakti peeth is located in Una district Himachal Pradesh state, surrounded by the western Himalaya in the north and east in the smaller Shiwalik or Shivalik range bordering the state of Punjab. The Chintpurni Shakti Peeth houses the temple of Chinnamastika Devi or Chinnamasta Devi. Chhinnamasta or Chinnamastika temple is one of the 7 major and 51 total Shakti Peethas. Here, Chhinnamasta is interpreted as the severedheaded one as well as the foreheadedone.
The temple of Gauri Shankar is situated immediately below the Naggar Castle in Naggar. The temple is believed to be the last monument of the GurjaraPratihara traditions. The temple is famous for its splendid Shikhara Style architecture.Gauri Shankar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and famous for stone carvings. The idols of Gauri and Shankar are set up on the pedestal, seated over Nandi. The garbagriha is decorated with beautiful carvings of images of Lord Ganesh, various people playing different musical instruments and also with the carvings of dancing girls.
Hidimbi Devi Temple, also known variously as the Hadimba Temple, is located inManāli, a hill station in the State of Himāchal Pradesh in north India. It is an ancient cave temple dedicated to Hidimbi Devi, wife of Bhima, a figure in the Indian epic Mahābhārata. The temple is surrounded by a cedar forest at the foot of the Himālayas. The sanctuary is built over a huge rock jutting out of the ground which was worshiped as an image of the deity. The structure was built in 1553.
Amongst the 51 Shaktipeethas, Jwala Devi temple happens to be an important temple in Himachal Pradesh. Jwalaji/jawalaji flame or Jwala Mukhi flame mouth is probably the most ancient temple discussed here besides Vaishno Devi. It is mentioned in the Mahabharata and other scriptures. There is a natural cave where eternal flames continue to burn. Some say there are nine flames for the nine Durgas
Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and one of the twelve Jyotirlingams, shrines which are said to be the most sacred abodes of Lord Shiva. It is located in the ancient city of Ujjain in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. The temple is situated on the side of the Rudra Sagar lake. The presiding deity, Lord Shiva in the lingam form is believed to be Swayambhu, deriving currents of power Shakti from within itself as against the other images and lingams that are ritually established and invested with mantrashakti

Shri Bhima Kali Temple is a temple at Sarahan inHimachal Pradesh inIndia, dedicated to the mother goddess Bhimakali. The temple is situated about 180 km from Shimla and is one of 51 Shakti Peethass. According to a legend, the manifestation of the goddess is reported to the DakshaYajna incident when the ear of the Sati fell at this place and became a place of worship as a Pitha Sthan.

Jakhoo Temple is an ancient temple in Shimla, dedicated to the Hindu deity Hanuman. It is situated on Jakhoo Hill, Shimlas highest peak, 2.5 km east of the Ridge at a height of 2,455 m above sea level. Each year, a festival is held on Dussehra, before 1972 the festival used to be held at Annadale.

Laxmi Narayan Temple is one of the most popular temples of Chamba that is known for its great historical significance and architectural marvel. There are also other temples in the complex like Radha Krishna Temple built by Rani Sarda wife of Raja Jit Singh in 1825, Shiva Temple of Chandragupta built by Sahil Varman and the Gauri Shankar Temple built by Yugkar Varman the son of Sahil Varman.
Mahakali Temple, a very famous holy place in Naldehra, is located on the banks of the serene Mahakali Lake. The main deity of Mahakali Temple is the Goddess Maha Kali. It stands with all its godliness and might on the banks of a river called Mahakali.
The Masrur Temples, also referred to as Masroor Temples or Rockcut Temples at Masrur, is an early 8thcentury complex of rockcut Hindu temples in the Kangra Valley of Beas River inHimachal Pradesh, India. The temples were carved out of monolithic rock with a shikhara, and provided with a sacred pool of water as recommended by Hindu texts on temple architecture
According to a legend, Goddess Sati burnt herself alive in Yagna, which distressed Lord Shiva. He picked the corpse of Sati on his shoulder and started his Tandava dance. This horrified all deities in the heaven as this could lead to holocaust. This urged Lord Vishnu to unleash his Chakra that cut the Sati’s body into 51 pieces. Shri Naina Devi Temple is the place where eyes of Sati fell down.
❖ Sandhya Devi Temple is an 8th century place of worship located at Jagatsukh in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh The presiding deity is Sandhya Devi Goddess of the evening, a 120cm stone idol consecrated in the sanctum. ❖ Gayatri Temple at Jagatsukh near Manali in Himachal Pradesh. ❖ Siddhewshwari mata temple is dedicated to goddess durga. ❖ The Shoolini Mata Temple is dedicated to Shoolini Mataan incarnation of Goddess Durga. The shrine is one of the prime attractions of Solan. It is also believed that the town of Solon was named after Shoolini Mata, who is the presiding deity of the temple. As per legends, the temple was once the abode of Shoolini Mata.

Tara Devi temple is one of the most visited religious places in Shimla. It is installed at a height of 7200 feet above sea level and situated around 11 km away from Shimla city.
The Tarna Devi temple is a divine shrine dedicated to Goddess Shyama Kali – incarnation of Goddess Parvati. Temple is perched at an elevation 300 feet above the sea level in the middle of the dense forest. Spectacular view of snowcapped mountains is one reason to be there. The temple is also known by the name of the Shyama Kali Temple and was constructed way back in the 17th century. It is said that whatever is wished at the temple gets fulfilled. This temple also has many beautiful paintings of Gods, Goddesses and Gurus.

The sacred shrine is known for the fivefaced image of Lord Shiva. ❖ At the top of Mandi town there is a temple of Shyama Kali deity, which is another manifestation of the consort of Lord Shiva.
Commonly known as Mahadevi Tirth, Vaishno Devi temple in Kullu is situated on the banks of Beas river. Named after the wife of Lord Shiva, Parvati, the magnificent temple was built in the year 1966 by a saint named Swami Sewak Das Ji Maharaj Devotees travelling to this side of Himachal Pradesh are likely to get smitten by the sprawling forests, apple orchards and majestic hills that happen to come on their way. Surrounded by an atmosphere of peace and calm, the temple has turned into one of the most sought after religious places in Kullu.
❖ Vishveshwar Mahadev Temple is an ancient shrine, located about 200 meters off the KulluMandi road in Bajaura, Himachal Pradesh. The temple is 15km away from Kullu town. This pyramidedstructured temple is positioned on the banks of the Beas River. The controlling deity is Lord Shiva. The Bhojeshwar Temple is an incomplete Hindu temple in Bhojpur village of Madhya Pradesh, India. Dedicated to Shiva, it houses a 7.5 feet 2.3 m high lingam in its sanctum.The temples construction is believed to have started in the 11th century, during the reign of the Paramara king Bhoja. The construction was abandoned for unknown reasons, with the architectural plans engraved on the surrounding rocks. The unfinished materials abandoned at the site, the architectural drawings carved on the rocks, and the masons marks have helped scholars understand the temple construction techniques of 11thcentury India.
Birla Mandir is situated at the highest point of Bhopal, atop area Hills dedicated to goddess Lakshmi. Chitrakoot is a town and a nagar panchayat in Satna district in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. It is a town of religious, cultural, historical and archaeological importance, situated in the Bundelkhand region, bordering Chitrakoot district in Uttar Pradesh, India. Chitrakoot Dham Karwi is a nearby town. It is known for a number of temples and sites mentioned in Hindu scriptures. Many people gather here on each Amavasya. Durga Mandir also known as Durga Kund Mandir, Durga Templeand also monkey temple, is one of the most famous temples in the holy city of Varanasi. Gufa Mandir is located at Lalghati, near the Idgah hill which is about 5kms from the city center. Gufa Mandir is a temple believed to be discovered by late Swami Narayandas during the year 1949. The large temple complex of Gufa Mandir with many natural caves, houses beautiful idols of Lord Shiva, Ram Laxman, Sita, Hanuman and Goddes Durga. Every day, large number of devotees from different parts of the world throng here to have darshan of the deity.
Gupt Godavari is a pair of caves, in which there is a tiny entrance, through which one can barely pass. Water trickles down in streams through the other cave, which can rise up to the length of our knees. It is said that Lord Rama and Lakshman once held their secret meetings, which is validated apparently by the throne like structures present in the cave. ❖ The town of Chitrakoot is well known for its spiritual legacy and the Sati Anusuya Ashram is an embodiment of that legacy.
❖ Hanuman Dhara is a great shrine dedicated to Lord Hanuman, in one of the wooded hills of Chitrakoot, about 5 km from Ram Ghat. As per legend, Hanuman flew to this hill with his tail on fire, after destroying Lanka. To cool his extreme anger he stood under a stream of icy water flowing out of the rock, which was later named as Hanuman Dhara. ❖ It is believed that Ram Ghat is the spot where Lord Ram used to take bath when he was here along with his consort, Seeta and brother Laxman as such this ghat is one of the most frequented ghats in Chitrakoot.
Varanasi or Kashi is older than traditions. Varanasi presents a unique combination of physical, metaphysical and supernatural elements. According to the Hindu mythology, Varanasi liberates soul from human body to the ultimate. It is the Ganga Ghats of Varanasi that complement the concept of divinity. Ghats of Ganga are perhaps the holiest spots of Varanasi. The Ganga Ghats at Varanasi are full of pilgrims who flock to the place to take a dip in the holy Ganges, which is believed to absolve one from all sins.
Kailash Yatra is a famous place of pilgrimage and the Kund is a big lake of cold, crystal clear water having a circumference of 1.5 miles. Kailash kund also known as Vasuki kund, is abode of Nagraj Vasuki and is situated at a height of 15000 ft. above sea level. Every year thousands of pilgrims from districts of ChambaH.P., Kathua, Udhampur, Doda, Jammu and other states participate in Kailash Yatra which commences on the 14th day after Shravan Purnima. The yatra starts from Gatha, Bhaderwah.
Kailash yatra in Bhaderwah starts every year from Gatha Previously named Ghoshta to Kailash Kund. Every year this yatra starts in the month of Bhadu on Dewadshi Thethi in krishan pakh according to Bikrami Samwat i.e. in late days of August. Shri Vasuki Nag , reached Kailash kund at the time when Garoodh Ji had challanged him to fight , as Garood Ji wanted to kill Shri Vasuki Nag Ji. Shri Narsingh Ji Mandir is an Ancient temple and was established more than 1700 years ago in Ghagwal, town of samba District of Jammu and Kashmir state. Around 1700 years back, few saints came to this holy place and took shelter near to these five trees .These five trees had been dried. In the morning when those saints were about to leave this place, they saw that all of the trees were green.
Navdevi temple is around 8 Kms from katra. It is in an ancient cave and one need to crawl a short distance inside the cave to reach the sanctum , . There are 9 small pindies inside the cave. Before entering the cave there is a naturally formed shivlingam and on the walls images of ganapathy etc all naturally formed . ❖ Kol Kandoli Temple is dedicated to Mata Vaishno Devi. The Goddess is established in this temple in the form of a pindi. It is believed to be good to visit this temple before starting the journey for Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. The temple is also known as first glimpse Kol Kandoli of Mata Vaishno Devi.
Omkareshwar is a Hindu temple dedicated to God Shiva. It is one of the 12 revered Jyotirlinga shrines of Shiva. It is on an island called Mandhata or Shivapuri in the Narmada river the shape of the island is said to be like the Hindu ॐ symbol. There are two main temples of Lord Shiva here, one to Omkareshwar whose name means Lord of Omkaara or the Lord of the OmSound located in the island and one to Amareshwar whose name means Immortal lord or lord of the Immortals or Devas located on the south bank of Narmada River on the mainland. As per the sloka on dwadash jyotirligam, Mamleshwar the other name of Amareshwar is the jyotirling, nonetheless, many consider both Omkareshwar and Mamleshwar equally sacred and representative of jyotirling at this sacred place.
Salkanpur Temple is located in Sehore district near Budhni, Salkanpur Temple is at a distance of 70 km from Bhopal by road and nearest railway station isHoshangabad which is on the BhopalItarsi route. Salkanpur temple is devoted to goddess Durga and the presiding deity here is Ma Durga Beejasan one of the incarnation of the goddess Durga. It is a very old Temple but at the present temple renovates by Salkanpur trust.
In Hindu tradition Triveni Sangam is the confluence of three rivers. Sangama is the Sanskrit word for confluence. The point of confluence is a sacred place for Hindus. A bath here is said to flush away all of ones sins and free one from the cycle of rebirth.
Sankat Mochan Temple is dedicated to the Lord Hanuman. This temple is also called as the Monkey temple because of the presence of lot of monkeys inside the premises. It is one of the holy temples of the Lord Hanuman and the main location for Hindus for their many religious as well as cultural festivals. ❖ Tulsi Manas Mandir is one of the most famous temples in the holy city of Varanasi. This temple has great historical and cultural importance in Hinduism since the ancient Hindu epic Ramcharitmanas was originally written at this place by Hindu poetsaint, reformer and philosopher Goswami Tulsidas in the 16th century c.1532–1623.
Sarnath, 10km from Varanasi, is one of the most revered Buddhist pilgrimage centers. It is believed that after attaining the Enlightenment at Bodh Gaya, it was here that Lord Buddha preached his first sermon, sanctified as Maha Dharm Chakra Parivartan.
Khori means cave Guffa and Shiv Khori thus denotes Shivas cave. This natural cave is about 200 metres long, one metre wide and two to three metres high and contains a self made lingam, which according to the people is unending. The first entrance of the cave is so wide that 300 devotees can be accommodated at a time. Its cavern is spacious to accommodate large number of people. The inner chamber of the cave is smaller.
Shiv Kuti or Shiv Koti. Mythological place where Lord Rama on his way to exile from Ayodhya, worshiped Lord Shiva after crossing Ganges.
