A lot of us dream of leaving the busy cities and moving to mountains or work from mountains to live a life of clean air and unadulterated peace. But there are very few who actually leave the rat race behind and pull it off. In this series Ill be in search of such inspirations and real life stories to decipher that is the grass really greener on the other side. Now if theres one place where I have to start this search it has to be LANDOUR. Even though it’s just 5 kms and a thousand feet away from Mussoorie, its a world apart. My Love Affair with Landour started 3 years ago, when the fragrance of idyllic walks amidst Cedar and Pine forests, the casting spell of the bells of the nearby church, the charm of British era colonial bungalows, and the aura of windows overlooking snow peaked mountains, caressed not only my body, but my soul as well And in these pristine surroundings lies LA VILLA BETHANY the home of Sunita and Amarjeet Kudle, who after working for more than a decade in Mumbai Delhi, had finally decided that it was time to follow their dreams So If you need a little motivation to change the course of your life, let these stories be your catalyst.

E3 From Ghost Village To Goat Village

All our previous stories were about people who themselves chose a different life, but this time I met someone who was leading the regular city life much like you and me. Little did he know that life has other plans. This is the story of The Goat Village. An initiative to revive and refurbish homes that once lay abandoned. So basically they are a bouquet of farm retreats giving the basic lifestyle experiences to visitors. The goat village has multiple social dimensions - one of which is to promote reverse migration by creating success stories among the locals. From getting trained in the hospitality sector to getting an exposure of the latest travel trends they are getting all of this right in their own backyard. And its a win-win situation - while the locals learn from the travelers, the travelers get a firsthand experience of the village lifestyle in Himalayas About Me: My name is Abhishek Vaid and Im a Corporate Escapee turned full-time traveler with a professional background in Business Strategy and a typically Indian educational background - Engineering NIT Surat MBA IIM Bangalore. E4 Living In Himachal Without Quitting Job

HOW TO SETTLE IN THE MOUNTAINS Very often I meet people who want to live in the mountains, experience the himachal village life but without quitting their jobs. So I set out on a mission to find this Shangri La for the corporate professionals who look to WORK FROM MOUNTAINS. And my hunt brought me to ALtLife - a hostel in the Hippie village of Dharamkot. This village is ideal for living in the mountains and experiencing the life of people in himachal. Altlife is basically a co-working space equipped with private rooms, dorms, WiFI, A Cafe and most importantly a like minded company of professionals who wish to escape the city life and fulfill their dreams of living in the hills.
