She won a Filmfare award for her negative role in Aarti, Anupama, Phool Aur Patthar, Ayi Milan Ki Bela, Gumrah, Waqt, and Khubsoorat are her other notable films. Shashikalas played roles of either flighty and feisty bubbly woman or vamp. She also acted in few Television serials like Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai for Sony, Apnaapan for Zee TV, Dil Deke Dekho for Sab TV and Son Pari for Star Plus. She was awarded with the prestigious Padmashri Award in 2007. She breathed her last on April 4, 2021 in Mumbai. His notable films include Waqt, Mother India, Paigam, Dil Ek Mandir, Hamraaz, Heer Ranza, Maryada, Lal Patthar, Pakeeja, Kudarat, Ek Nai Paheli, Saudagar, Tiranga and God and Gun in 1995 was his last film. He died on July 3, 1996 at the age of 69.
